So I replaced the temp sensor that's by the intake and I replaced the cluster. It still doesn't function. Any other ideas? Idk what else could cause it?

Did you get the sensor/sender for the gauge as opposed to the light?
Year '88? I noticed you have another thread working -- always good to give your year so responders don't have to guess.

There are two temp senders available, one for a gauge, and one for an idiot light. It depends on what cluster you have.

How do you tell clusters apart? And where's the second unit? I replaced the one on the top near the air box / intake. Which sender is that? For the light I'm guessing? Idk if the light even works bc the guy who worked on the jeep last forgot to plug the electric fan back in and the radiator blew apart today. I think that's what caused it at least. The thermostat is working. Idk MY DAMN TEMP GAUGE DON'T WORK! Lol

There were two different clusters, one with gauges and one with only a fuel gauge and speedometer. Did you do a cluster swap? Or change it in hopes of fixing the temp gauge?

It's always had the cluster with gauges. And I got a working cluster with as close to the same mileage as I had. Also replaced that sender/sensor by the air box / intake area.

As mentioned I am thinking you simply put in the wrong sensor. They make 2. One for the cluster with just the "dummy lights" as they are called and one for the cluster with gauges like you have. If you use the wrong sensor the temp gauge will not work. This is the small sensor on the cylinder head all the way back almost against the firewall.

Oh so there is only one temp sensor per motor? I thought you were saying there was two per motor regardless of cluster. So the sensor I replaced up front isn't for that? I mean it goes into a coolant neck. At least I'm pretty sure it is.
