I have looks on this forum, and have replaced every part that touched cooled (exept for the engine) and I still callnot figure out what is the cause. in normal freeway friving it is fine. but is I go up long hills or still in traffic it starts to creep up about 210. I love my jeep and dont wanna trade it in, but I am at he end of the rope.
The parts I have replaced
Fan clutch
heater control valve
therostate
water pump ratiator
hoses
Any idead would be great, I am getting tired of trying to figure this out

I am having the same problem except mine is a 98. Mine will get to about 215 when I sit in traffic for a while. I have no idea what the problem is either and would like to hear some opinions.

OP 210 is completely normal, that is what it should be at. Do a search...
Beagle, have you replaced the clutch fan, that is the most likely cause of temp coming up in traffic. Replace it with a heavy duty one from a zj.

Overheating is when the needle is at/in the "red" area on the gauge. Most other vehicles (with a factory temp gauge) just have a "C" and "H" on the temp gauge and the needle points +/- the middle of the gauge when all is good......kinda like the XJ does.

U say "normal freeway driving, it's fine".....where does the needle point when "it's fine"?

The other day I let my gf drive me jeep on long beach and when I stoped to check the temp it was almost to the red. Or the other day I was driving on lake city way and every time I was at a red light it would start to go over 210 and climbing, it would have continued if the light did not turn green.
