will a 94 tcm plug up in my 87 jeep

 

No, I supper doubt it. Different computer system. The 87 has a Renix ECU. On the OBD-I system in the 94, they then call it a PCM. That said, I'm not positive....

 

I believe they changed in 92 and again in 97.

 

Get one out of an 88 to 90.

But doesn't the TCM/PCM plug into the ECU? Would it plug into an 87 ECU?

The TCU gets info, then controls three solenoids in the trany. I gather people have trouble with the solenoids and the wiring...Also there is a fuse. (also the previous owner of my Jeep was sold a TCU)...ALSO, where it grounds can be a problem. In my signature Cruiser mentions that in "Ground Refreshing"

Are you running it? What's it doing?

 

TCU doesn't plug into the ECU. They stand alone.

 

when in drive it takes off in 1st then changes to 2nd but then 3rd then od withen 5 seconds and i have to change gears manually but it has no power but with tcm unplugged it has all its power

 

I wouldn't be surprised if someone suggested checking/adjusting your TPS. Cruisers instructions are in my Sig. A bit tecky...New ones need adjusted also Btw.
