Default TCC issues and code 27

Hi guys

I’m hoping you might be able to help me again.

I have a few problems that might be related. Firstly with the torque converter. On the highway, it will randomly disengage itself at normal cruising speed and then engage again a second later. It can do this every few minutes. No pattern to it and completely random.

Next, the Jeep is throwing code 27 (3 turns of the key) and is more difficult to start than it used to be. It cranks for longer and splutters into life running on 4 or 5 cylinders. Then if I give it a little gas, it will rev up fine. Sometimes though, it will sit and idle probably on 5 cylinders. I have done a bit ofresearch around the code, but nothing much comes back apart from problems with the fuel injector circuit – although I have no real idea where to start looking with this. I have visually checked the wiring to the injectors and there’s nothing obvious standing out.

Today I left work, it ran ok for the first half mile or so, then wouldn’t change gear. It kept slipping in and out of first/second. My Heep is LPG converted, so I switched it to LPG and then it runs fine. No misfiring and runs well, apart from the issue with the torque converter disengaging/engaging itself. This still happens no matter what fuel its running on.

Could these two issues be related? I recently swapped my TPS as the last one was bad. I guess the TCC issue could be, but the problem with the fuel code?

I’m determined to rescue this Jeep and bring it back to life!

Thanks

Well, the TCC issue might be the disengage switch on the brake pedal. Might need to be snugged up against the brake pedal shaft again.
How did you do the dual-fuel? Hard to say what's wrong without knowing what's been modified.

Thanks Radi.
The duel fuel was already installed when I bought the jeep so I can't really give specifics, but it has been fitted since 2004 with no issues. I guess when running on lpg it ignores inputs from various sensors but hard to say.

I will check out the brake switch as you suggest.

Do you have a second set of injectors for the LPG? Could be that one of your gasoline injectors has an issue- might try disconnecting them one by one and see if one doesn't make any difference.

The lpg is single point and comes directly in from the throttle body. I have thought about swapping injectors round, when it stops raining here I will give it a try. Thanks again.
