its 99+, and I have that intake as well. the header might make more power (~8hp at the wheels compared to maybe 1 with the TB) but the bored TB increases throttle response a **** load.

he raised his prices though. and yes, my APN was like 130 shipped. but the time it takes to put on a header vs. the bored TB, the TB is a much more 'efficient' upgrade.

i am sorry but i would rather have the header you will get more power out of it. the bored tb is not going to be as effective as it would be with header and exhaust. but i guess if you just want a punchier felling to the motor then go a head and do the bored tb with out the rest of the system.

I'm speaking from experience. The bored TB was way more noticeable when I just bolted it onto my stock motor with a dyno muffler than when I added my header, 99+intake, and hi flow cat to the equation. yes, all that increased power but didnt register as much as the TB on the butt dyno.

yes but at what RPM are you gaining this hp? above 5,000 rpm? Ive had mine above that once. For 4wheeling torque is more important, at least for me. Max torque comes between what...2-3,000 rpm. The throttle body increases throttle response at all rpms...and will flow a bit more air. This equates to a bit more power (not much) over the whole range.

^x2 I like the torque

my olds 403 small block had 185 horsepower but 320 lbft of torque stock.
Grunt is great

Who buys a 4.0 for horsepower? And I have a 99 so that header won't work for me. Just to clear it out the factory header does flow pretty good compared to other OEM and if it wasn't for the cracking I'd consider it pretty good. As many have stated the most "felt" upgrade for my jeep other than lower gears has been the TB. And you can still get bored out TBs cheaper than a bill on ebay. I have seen one on there last week.

Your 99 Has Cast exhaust manifolds which have a very small chance of cracking compared to the previous Header style. But you have to deal with the 0331 head which is prone to cracking..............

My buddy Nick had a 343 powered Rx7 it ran 12.8s in the 1/4 then we put the 2in carb spacer on it and it was running like 12.4s. Makes a world of difference on carbed engines. Fuel Injection engines no.

0331 not until 2000 year model... You're right about the manifold. 99 xj is possibly the best year to get.
