Anyway.. On my '97 XJ the splash wells behind the back tires have rusted out. See the pic where my pinkie and index finger are pointing. The one part is the curved part in the wheel well, and the other is on the back side of the rear quarter panel (which I'm replacing). What is out there to replace or fix these? Or do you have to just fabricate something? I'm not seeing anything using my google fu. THanks.
Yes, neither of the two pieces I'm talking about (inside the wheel well, or behind the quarter panel) are on that site (or anywhere else I can find). Pretty sure I just have to fabricate something. I did find the 'cut and fold' method and pretty sure I'm going with that, but will still have to add some pieces on to prevent any gaps/holes.
Yeah I kind of thought you might.
In the parts catalogs it looks like there are replacement panels for the insides.
But looking at the illustration it is kinda tough to figure out exactly what is what.
And whether they are available or not is a whole different story.
Go here:
Download the parts catalog.
Look under "Body Sheet Metal Except Doors".
Maybe you can figure out what you need, get the part number, and see if any can be had.
You can find the outers, but you will have to make your own inners. Another member asked the same thing last month. At the time you could find them with pricing, but i just looked back and they are now listed as discontinued and unavailable.
I made my own out of 22g steel using handtools and a bench vice. My uncle did the rest. This was a couple years ago.
