Anyone use there xj in the mud. I went to an ameture type mud bogg this weekend. And of course I could not resist the temptations !!
Darn that was fun, And my stock XJ with Michelin tires went mighty well in the mud holes. I was totally suprised this thing would go where it did.
The street tires felt like I was on ice the whole time but she never stopped moving, Even when I bottomed it out.
Now I want a lift kit and some Mud tires on it so I can go back !!....LOL

I'm thinking 4" and 32 or 33's will get me where I wat to be..(for now..)

I'm running 3" and 29x10.5x15's, reason is that the tires won't cram much for trail running, and for mud use I can go through stuff that I really have no place going... Kinda a half-way for both worlds thing :P course for Mud (in most cases) TIRES give a much bigger bang for their buck then lift.

I dont think you will be able to get 33's on a 4inch unless you do a 4incher and some shackles and spacers. I got a 4 with 31's and it rubs from time to time. Id say 4 with 32's would be your best bet. I dont know if you looked but theres that lift/tire setup thread on the top of the main thread page that shows tons and tons of tire lift combos. I wish i would have seen that when i was deciding my lift.

i dont think that you will like 32's or 33's with a 4" lift. you are going to have to cut your fenders and maybe bushwhacker them. i have a rubicon express 4.5" lift with a 2" spacer kit on it, and i have 31's on it right now. i am about to go to 33's but i am just trying to save up money. when i had 31's on a 3" lift i wanted more to clear the tires. as for the tires.... i would go with some superswampers if your looking for a good mud tire. the best mud tire i have ever used. if i were you i would but the 4" lift with a 1" spacer kit and the 32's will be good

Go with 31's, keep your wheel speed high, those bigger tires will need more power, and a lot of trimming.

i'll agree, mud is fun, but hell on the wheel bearings, tre's, brakes, u-joints, axle and t-case seals. it can get very expensive. wash underneith while it's still wet.

And yeah, to this day there are still some parts permanently stained from the very first time I took it through some mud after I bought it.

The mud in that shot is kinda rare....for some reason this new neighborhood we moved into a couple of years ago is split about half clay and the other half more of a normal muck. My old neighborhood was on 100% clay and it made a mess of everything.

And I've since put a front skid on...made a HUGE difference in keeping the mud off the engine, and seems to keep a fair amount off everything else up front. Plus, I don't go flying through the mud anymore like I used to.

i heard you can put a yard sprinkler under your truck and let it go back and forth for a wile for an easy way to clean it up, ive never done it and don't know if it works but you can try

also i don't know if it will get that clay off
