Default Re gearing on 31 inch tires for pulling trailer

Got a 98 Cherokee 4.0 on 31 inch tires, auto trans. I am going to get a trailer to pull with my Jeep only like 3000 pounds or so, nothing huge. I'm on 3.55 gears right now and it already has a hard time going up hills, so I'm thinking of gearing it to 4.10s, but I want to ensure I am gearing it enough so that I can pull the trailer just fine. So should I go with 4.10s or 4.58. I do not ever plan on going bigger than 31 inch tires.

Thanks in advance

4.10 if you’re never going any bigger. 4.56 is too much for 31’s.
3k is a heavy load for an XJ in my opinion.

I think the minimum requirements would be
4.10s
quality transmission cooler
Brake system in excellent condition
and uniframe rails in excellent condition where the hitch bolts in

Even with all of that I still think 3k is too much for an XJ

I think I'm over estimating the weight of this trailer. It's basically just a truck bed trailer, so more like 1500-2000 lbs when loaded down. The frame is rust free and I got a trans cooler installed as well.

Think I'll go with the 4.10s then

Note from DJ
If you have 4 wheel drive and ever intend using it; you have to regearing the front differential at the same time.

Understood. Bought the whole kit with both, and the new front 3.73 and up carrier
