There will be no noticeable difference with the rear removed. A lot of people will say that they have never had an issue with the front removed but it's not the standard every driving that is the issue. It's when you have to make a quick swerve to avoid something that not having the front swaybar really makes a difference. Save a little cash and get a set of disconnects for the front and you will be much safer on the road.

Yes. But when you do it, take it on a backroad or parking lot and practice slalom(sp?) type manuvers to get a feel of how to react in an emergency situation. Get a feel of how much it takes to feel like your about to roll. The stiffer your front springs, the better off you are.

Suggestion.................
rather than jumping in and taking off your rear sway bar, why not just take off both rear tires, and remove the frame rail mounting brackets? It's only two bolts per side. The rubber bushings are split and come right out of the brackets, and then you can simply use a long ty-rap or a couple turns of baling wire to fasten the bar to the undercarriage. Try it that way for a while, make up your mind at your convenience. It will bang around just a bit, but at least you'll know what the noise is, and it really isn't all that noisy. Be advised that those bolts are metric on most years.

I took the sway bar off the first xj I had and never really noticed any difference heck its not a sports car, I removed the one on my xj today and I am going to drive it without the front connected and see how it drives.

I take the sway bars off all my vehicles because you gain so much flex and it doesn't seem to effect road manner to much. You can tell that your suspension is a little more movable, but overall I would say take them out.

My chero didn't come with a rear sway bar (upcountry package) and I haven't noticed anything bad about the handling, handles like any large 4wd I figure, it was never a porsche to start with.

I took my rear off and it was no big deal. But when I took the front one off there was lots of body roll back and forth. I put it back on right away. Most people have the same results. Then they say, I don't drive it fast anyway. But that one time you have to avoid something and over it goes. One roll totals it. It is not a risk worth taking in my book. Just get some disconnects if you want the flex that bad.
