Well if you wait long enough, the door mount will rust off and the door will just fall off. It has happend to both of the XJ's in my family. Just remember if you take the doors off, you lose your mirrors and I think that is illegal.

Dont do it, your xj will fold like a taco. The doors are what holds it together.
j/k. But good point about the mirrors. And make sure your local Public Servents will be ok with you having no side impact protection and mirrors before you go cutting the door pins.

well first off, in most states you have to have a 4 point roll cage to take the doors off. as far as wiring goes the way i would do it is to take the kick panel off and wire a plug that will fit threw the door boot. your looking at around 15 wires give or take.

and the mirror is an easy fix you can get creative with.
heres how i did my mirrors. its a cheap strong magnet bolted to a cheapo auto-zone mirror. but its legal, works great, and doesnt fall off on the highway or trails. and it just pulls off whenever i put my doors back on.
as for the procedure, theres plenty of good writeups with pictures to guide you. and that will explain it alot better than i can here. but its a real easy job.0

I didn't have to wire in my own connector on my 95. There was already a connector behind the kick panel for the wiring (I have power windows and locks) as well as a smaller connector for the speaker. I just leave that single screw out of the kick panel (it stays in there just fine, the rest of the trim holds it on) and pull it off to access the connector, disco it, pop the kick panel on, lose the doors and go!
