take a while to start
I got a valve from the dealer for 28bucks. The guy even said it looked pretty standard so I'm wondering if I could take it to a parts place and find one that is identical or not? Anyone find a valve that would work that was not from bmw?where did you get it and what vheicle was it for?

And the valve I ordered from bmw is plastic, does this sound like the right valve? I can post a picture if you want.

renix era the fuel filters were always on the driver side just above the rear diff under the truck. Probably close to that area. If not there it may be apart of the pump in the tank. ugh.

Your '98 XJ will have the filter in the tank, so your going to have to find a place in the ruber line(closer to the tank the better) to splice it in..

Sorry I didn't resond earlier, but Nick is right. That is the only rubber line. I was going to cut the steel line to put it along the unibody frame in a flat level spot along the frame rail. The placement anywhere that is convenient to get to will probably work.
No problem, thanks for the responses. I was just getting ancy because I wanna make sure I got the right valve. The one in the link was a metal valve and the bmx part I got is plastic and I only have a few days to exchange it if it is wrong so has anyone heard of a plastic valve?
I'm thinking if I gotta go through the trouble of droping the tank I might wanna do it right or get a used pump, or just leave it alone.

This check valve is now 23.00 dollars that is here in austin tx. as of 11/12/08. Now i am not saying that isnt worth it , but that cannot be the only valve of its kind that will work. There has got to be something off of a honda or american car that will do the same thing? anyone have any ideas?
