Default Taillights stay on?

Hey everyone, just got back from a short trip into lower elevations from where I'm at and I noticed that the temps were a bit higher than normal on the way back uphill. Just a bit over 210 when I'm usually under that. Not a problem it makes sense since I was going uphill and fighting the wind on the way back. I just got back and noticed that my taillights and brake light remained on after I shut off and walked away from the car. Any ideas?

The brake light switch is either bad or the rubber grommet on the end of it has come off.

Its on the top of the pedal assembly itself.

Something's causing your brake light switch to stick or the pedal isn't coming all the way back.

Agreed check your brake light switch. Also how far is your pedal travel? If its super long you might be in need of some brake work.

The travel on the pedal is normal, I don't think its the brake system entirely. Did some more researching and found out that the plunger may have needed to be adjusted so I did that and for now there aren't any problems with the brake lights but I have a feeling it'll come back. I'll just replace it at that point. Now though, my cruise control isn't working. I turn it on and the light on the dash comes on but I can't set it. 2000 4.0 4wd by the way.

I had a brake booster take a crap on me once and for some reason my brake switch went out too. When you say plunger do you mean the shaft that goes from the booster to the master cylinder?
