T-case problem

Default T-case problem

Here is the story.. I went wheeling one day and went threw a small hole in 4L. After i got threw it i put it back in 2H and went to a part of the trails where you can flex out pretty good. Put it in 4L again to crawl and when i went to put it back into 2H it didnt want to go... It would go threw 4H and when i would put it into 2H it would not go... felt as if something was in the way blocking it because i would be forcing it and it would just go bewteen 2H and 4H and not move... As i go to put it back into 4H the lever would go into its spot but it would not engage (part-time light would not come on) and i would have to put it into gear and release the clutch and it would grab into 4H and then pop out as i would start to move... same can be said about 4L also. it would move good from 4L to 4H all day but not go into gear unless i jammed it back and held it there so it would not pop out... I would also have to drive with it in either setting on some ruff terrain and then it would SOMETIMES move into any gear (2H, 4H, 4L) like it should.

I have checked AND replaced the fluid and check the linkage numerous times and i do not see anything externally that would make it bind or keep it from moving freely at all.

I have came to the conclusion that the gearing is jacked up internally and i can pick up a good used one for $100. Also, i have the np231... but i wanted to check with you guys on here who have more years under yalls belts before i go ahead and purchase the used one that i know for a fact works perfect.

p.s. Sorry if it is long and over winded but i wanted to put in as much info about this as possible.

That is normal, what happens is that the fork springs lose the force to shift the collars back in place with time.
Just find a slippery surface where to do some back and forth and let the wheels spin a little and it will work.

X2 slippery terrain will help get it out I think it's normal mine does the same thing once inna while

In 4H to get back in 2H.

Now what about me going into 4H at all because if I go out there right now and try it feels like its binding when I pull the lever back and it only goes half eay to 4H and doesnt even come out of 2H

Shift the lever when rolling with the tranny in neutral. Stop to shift in 4L.
