From what others have posted, it "might" work with some mods to the shaft. Why not just get a used t-case from the JY?

Was wondering, Are you referring to the guy who took an angle grinder to the end. (of his shaft?)

Yes, if you swap the input shaft it will work. However, the '89 features a conventional mechanical (cable) drive speedometer output and the '98 features a three-wire, digital square wave Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). I'd imagine they are swappable, but I'm not sure.

What is wrong with the the '89 t-case?
