SYE Prep, can I drive just on front DS?
AA SYE kit just arrived and I'm hoping to get it in tonight. I've heard I can drive around lightly in 4HI with just my front driveshaft. Can doing so cause damage to anything? Either that or I overnight the new CV DS.
All I can think of so far that I need, other than my full tool set:
Gear Extractor w/ 5" Reach
Breaker bar, big monkey wrench
Snap Ring Pliers/Lock Ring Pliers
Royal Purple SyncroMax
Jack Stands, Floor Jack
These seem like good instructions: http://www.4x4xplor.com/SYE-CV2.html

Its safe to run just front after SYE install.
Can run just front w/o SYE installed but you need some HD plastic and a few hose clamps to seal the output shaft.
If the front DS is long enough you can put it on the rear and drive too.

Pending on the year you can take the rear shaft out WITHOUT an SYE and have no fluid loss, if I remember correctly. I think in this case your safe with the 99. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
And yes, you can use your front shaft as a rear driveshaft AFTER the SYE is installed. In fact, thats what I've been doing for the past 2 years.
