Default Switch to Non-disco D30 axles, questions

So, if I'm understanding this right, I can put the newer non-disco type axles in my 91 D30 axle housing. By doing this I get:

1.) No more front axle disco to deal with.
2.) Thicker/stronger axle shafts.
3.) The bigger 760 axle U-joints.

Is this all true? If so, what years am I looking for? I believe I read that the non-disco D30 axles started being installed in the XJs in 92. Are they the same from 1992 all the way through 2001?

they've been using non disco axles for the whole production of the xj. (all limited models for instance).

they only used vac disconnect axles on some models using the 231 transfer case. they stopped using the vac disconnect around 93, maybe 96.

it isn't as easy as you think just swapping out your 3pce shafts. the seals are in different spots as also there is a nylon bushing that will be in your way.

easier to just swap out the whole diff.

older xj's with ani-lock brakes has the larger u-joints and high pinion diff.
newer xj's 97 to 99 had larger u-joints with high pinion.
2000-2001 xj had low pinion diff that like a tj. but with larger u-joints.

look for one the same year as yours tho, they changed caliper mounts some years.

Thanks Caged....This is exactly why I ask these dumb questions.I figured now that I have the front locker and everything spins all the time any, that I would lose the right side disco axle and have fewer pieces that can break.
