Depends on driving style... People will tell you that in emergency situations on the highway fast lane changing maneuvers to avoid something can cause a loss of control and flip the vehicle... I kind of agree but if I'm at highway speeds and have to do that, my Jeep (4.5" lift and 33"s) is not going want to stay upright anyway... I don't have mine on right now... I took them both off a month ago and found that on another 4x4 forum a lot of big blazers with 4 to 6 inch lifts all got rid of both of them and have no problems... Just remember what you're driving and be careful... Is the vehicle safer to drive with them on? Yes... but it's also safer to drive a stock xj with no lift so maybe we shouldn't lift them anymore...

i tossed my rear the other day and have not been able to tell a diffrence besides the flex. I have heard its bad news to remove your front and drive the roads. i don't have any personnal experience with that though

ditch the rear and leave the front w/ disco's just in case. better safe than sorry, and it's not that difficult of a task to disconnect it when you wanna wheel.

i agree with the theory that the rear is nearly useless. i have been running without mine for quite some time and dont notice much difference. the flex is great. from my point of view there isnt much point in not running one in the front when driving on the street, people drive like idiots so you never know what can happen. i have my son in mine all the time so i have my front connected, i disconnect when i wheel. i agree with mastershake, just get some discos or if you dont wheel that often just disco when you do wheel.

Front and rear are gone on my, it's an old fart though, bone stock, factory front suspension, it DW's much over 65 if I hit a bump (DW that fast is fun.... >_<....).
I don't drive it on the highway ever, and the fastest road I drive on to go wheeling is 50, so I'm OK.
Yes, it is going to have a lot more body roll, the fix for that is just take it easy around corners. If some one cuts you off, don't swerve cause you might flip it...
I have the mentality that if some one does something stupid in their car, and I destroy them, their bad, Imma take their insurance money and run! AHAHAAA!!!!!

Even if you have a lifted vehicle, you should run the front sway bar. As has been said, get some discos. You can say, well I drive slow and I will be careful. Honestly, it isn't worth it to take the chance. Remember if you roll one of these, it's a total.

Keep the front Sway Bar with quick-discos. If you're at stock height may as well keep the rear. If you're lifted, toss the rear say Bar in the weeds. Absolutely do not ever drive at highway speed with the front sway bar disconnected. i know there are those on here who do but, it's just a matter of time. The XJ does not respond well to a panic stop situation when turning at all unless the sway bar is connected....doesn't do very well in a turning while going through potholes or washboard situation with the sway bar connected, either.

As an ex-autocrosser, I can not imagine removing sway bars and running at speed. Even for those running below 55. But for rock crawling and low speed trails it would seem that removing the sway bars should not be dangerous.
