swapping ignition switch ?

I went to get my jeep inspected yesterday and failed because my tilt is broke in my steering column so i have a parts jeep that i got the steering column out of and the ignition switch is all hacked up (po did it not me) so now i need to know how to get the ignition switch out so i can swap em out any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to pull the steering wheel off.
You will need a steering wheel puller and a steering wheel lock plate compressor.

You only have to work your way down to like the 9th picture. Remove the screw that holds the lock cylinder in place and it will just slide right out.

Nevermind got it all swapped out i just had to look at it a little closer the puller and what not isnt needed but it would have made things ALOT easier lol

??Ignition switch is the lock cylinder? Their is bolt inside the steering column that holds the lock cylinder in place.
And yeah, I have done this actually. I had to replace my steering column a couple months ago and had to swap out my ignition as well. Swapping out the ignition/lock cylinder using the link I posted takes all but 5 minutes to work down to that level, inside the steering column, to remove the lock cylinder and to put it all back together.
Maybe it is because your on a 1998 Jeep and the OP and I are on the 89/90 model?
