If you're referring to the pic I posted, the set on the left is from a GM 14bolt axle. The Reverse cut on the right is a Ford HP D60.

The pic was used to show the difference between the two only. Your D30 is much smaller....

"seriousoffroad" yeah thats what i figured.

and "vac crap" i was talking about how the earlier jeep axles have a 2 piece axle on the passenger side.

so i figure i get the better u joints with this axle, no posi-lock to deal with, and all the wheels bearings and ball joints are good. are the brakes any different on the newer axles?

yes, the brakes are different, and for 00-01 there were two different kinds of rotors.
Just sell it and get a 91-95 ABS axle, or 96+. HP and big ujoints.
