hear in MD we tend to get more ice than snow also.... and from my limited experience the narrower the tire the better when it comes to ice

I think once the ATs cut to the pavement they grip better because there are more lugs contacting the ground. ATs lugs are spaced generously, but not as crazy as a mud terrain. The MTs use the lugs as paddles, in the crudest of explinations, and don't contact much with solid ground.
Once you get in some seriously heavy, thick, deep snow, you'll wanna float on top, which is when the larger grooves and huge lugs will help.

I'm new to the Cherokee..... I have wanted one for awhile, and finally got one.
I have had 3 wranglers 87' 92' 97' and i dont really know what to expect from my Cherokee this winter. lol

It won't be too much different. Its got a bit longer wheel base, so it'll be a bit more predictable when you push the rear around.
