Default Sun visor wiring differences

The OE visor/vanity mirror was pretty bad looking in my 96. Got one from a junkyard from a 98-99ish one (post 97 for sure). Mine just has one wire (black), the junkyard one has a green with a red chaser and a black wire. Tried hooking both of them up to the wire in the Jeep, none of them worked.

Visors look identical, same light and dimmer. How can I get it to work?

Thanks!

Figured it out. The old style connector is just one wire- the ground is via the mounting screws. The newer one has a ground wire in the harness. So I just connected to the positive wires and tucked the ground wire coming off the newer visor into one the screw holes so it threaded in with one of the screws. Double grounded now. And it works!

Maybe this post will help someone! I hope so.
