Default Summit Racing Wheels

Just letting everyone know, i bought a set of Summitracing.com "d-window" wheels last week, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-84-5865 upon trying to mount and balance my BFG's we learned that 2 of the 4 were pretty badly out of round/bent. Bad to the point where the balancing machine was asking for 4.5oz on the inner lip and 6oz on the outer. I called Summit customer support and spoke with "Jeb" and told him what had happened. He didn't seem to care. He said he hears it a lot that aftermarket wheels do that. I thought it was because I bought cheap ones, but i wasnt sure. Anywho "Jeb" tried telling me that I cannot return the wheels because I had put tires on them. HMMMMMMMMMM, how would i know that they would be bad without trying to balance them?? Bottom line: Do not buy these wheels. PERIOD. Better yet, dont bother buying anything from Summitracing.com as they have lost this customer for life.

(yes the wheels were on the machine correctly, and the specs above were for the worst one.) very concerning, concidering I just spent a nice chunk of change on my tires and the last thing i want to happen is to wear them out prematurely

I would have to agree with them... yikes!
You could have put the wheels without tires on the balancer to see if they were true first, but who really does that when you had bought NEW wheels.
(I've been down that road, and it sucks- worse is when the wheels I bought were used and no return at all. I ate that cost)

I say take the tires off, clean the wheels up and send them back. Worst case they refuse.
But I highly doubt they would and speaking to a supervisor might just help.

best of luck

Hey Milwaukee, I posted the following info on your previous thread about these wheels, but you probably never saw it. Drop me an email, I'd really like to see ifI can help you with this.

From 8/6:
"Sorry to hear that you couldn't get any help. I work at Summit and I'm sure I can help you out. Please send me any customer info you have to customerservice@support.summitracing.com attn: Bryan 1202.

I'll take a look at the order and let you know what we can do. Everyone on this forum was a huge help to me when I was building my Cherokee, so now is my chance to give a little back. Summit doesn't want to see customers have a bad experience like this and neither do I."

What ever came of this? I had a set shipped to my friends house while I was out of town and when I went to look at them today I think at least 2 have a bend in them.

Ordered around the same time as you, and ordered the same wheels.

I never heard back from Milwaukee at the email address above or through the pm I did here. If you think you have a bad set you are welcomed to contact me as well. Have a shop check them first (most places can tell if they are out of round without ever mounting the tires). If it turns out they are messed up I will make sure you get taken care of without any additional expense to you. Please get them checked out, though. If there are two people here with the same issue I will have our QA group check them all out just in case. I don't need my Cherokee bretheren wobblin' down the road! Let me know.

I really do appreciate that, I will bring them somewhere by the weekend to see if they are out of round.
