subwoofer and amp wiring help!!
i have wired everything but the power to the amp. i cant find and easy way to get it from the batt. to the amp through the fire wall. i found a gromit and tried to put it through, it went in and i put about 3 feet through and i couldnt find the end anywhere. it was the top gromit to the left side which the batt. is on... any suggestions on where to get it through with out drilling? 98 cherokee

yeah I just wired up mine and used that spot. Make sure you run your power cable on one side and audio rca cables on the other so you don't get alternator whine and all kinds of other noise. This is true on any vehicle.
there is a grommet on the passenger side, just above the stater on the fire wall. remove it, drill a hole (or cut a slit) in it, fish the power cable through (inside it will be just left of the HVAC unit) re install the grommet. clean.

im confused i was always under the impression that this so called "alternator" wine was actually coming from the spark plug wires? anyone know what actually causes the interference
alternator whine is usually caused by poorly insulated wires and or bad grounds. I used to do installs as a side business years ago. Most of the work I got was fixing other peoples screwups. In almost every case it was bad grounds, shoddy crimp or solder work, or crappy components. In rare occassions it was a faulty voltage regulator on the alternator.

on my bmw I had very bad alternator whine though my subs, I ended up haveing to ground the stereo to a new spot on the body, put the steroes ground wire to the case itsself, then run a ground from the stereo case to the amp its self which was also grounded to the body.
Man that was fun.
