Default How to get my FM40 and oem style tail pipe together?

I have searched for hours in here and have not found anything with the problem I am having. My stock exhaust and cat are done, so I bought a 2.25" flowmaster 40 and magnafow direct fit high flow cat. I am still waiting for the cat to come in, but I have the muffler and bought a factory 2.25 tail pipe from salvo auto parts. The problem I see is that the FM40 is several inches shorter than the stock exhaust, so I need to make up the difference. Also, the factory style tail pipe section is a smaller diameter then the outlet on the muffler to the point that I need some kind of adapter if I can find one. Are you guys running into this problem when installing your similar set ups. I figured the muffler would just slide over the tail pipe and could clamp it since it is all supposed to be 2.25", but as I said the mufflers outlet is too big for that. I am trying to do this myself and cannot weld, so I need to clamp it all. Thanks for the help.

autozone or any car parts place should have exhaust reducers and anything else you would need.

I figured that, but is everybody else running into this issue? I am trying to avoid having a bunch of extra pipes and clamps to get this together and then look like crap.

Sounds like you got a 2.5" muff instead of a 2.25" or your new tailpipe is 2.00" instead of 2.25". I prefer to use a band clamp when possible (Jeg's/Summit) as they don't crush/crimp the pipe, seal really well and make for quick dis-assembly, if needed.

I was searching around and called Salvo, which is where I bought the tail pipe from. They said the oem specs for the muffler is a 2" outlet and 2" tail pipe inlet. That explains the fitment problem I am having. My FM is 2.25" and the tail pipe is 2". I guess I need a reducer now and hopefully I can find one.
