Fuel line was leaking at the fuel rail, so I pulled it off and had to replace the plastic quick disconnect and o-rings. BUT the line won't click onto the plastic clip on the rail. No amount of pushing will make it click. It just pulls off again... I know this is a general no no, but is there any real reason I can't just bypass the quick disconnect by using some fuel injection line and fuel line hose clamps. After all, the fuel filter is held on with this setup, so it should hold just fine, right? I dunno what to do guys. I can't get this thing to work and nobody seems to stock quick disconnects.

 

Thread from the dead, but I'm wondering about this also, are the quick connects actually needed if a new hose is ran from under the floor pan where the metal lines stop, Clamp on both ends?

 

I'm gonna post about this in the modified section. My lower fuel line ruptured the other day and had to fix it in a parking lot with a non-injected fuel line. Running fine right now and can't think of a reason why I can't just keep it that way.

 

It'll work just keep a close eye on it for leaks, I've done it on my Fuel Injected Motorcycle to add an inline fuel filter and had to double clamp it to keep it from having a slow leak. IIRC the fuel filter has flared ends on it which help create a seal and keep the line from sliding off.

 

If the fuel line you used is rated above the pressure you are running then I really don't see why not. Aren't the XJ EFI systems around 35 psi or less?

Cherokees run about 50 psi. Clamps are asking for a fuel spray. Not a really good idea.

 

I have clamps on the soft line to the injector rail. If that line ever had anything else it was before my ownership. However, I have had issues with it - mainly due to the rubber perishing in the heat. I've got new line and two clamps at each end now. It's solid - but at least it's an easy place to look at when I check the oil.

 

Any fix better be solid as the exhaust manifold is quite close. Gasoline and a hot manifold do not play well together. I dont know whats up with your fitting, but should you need another, the following threads may be useful.
