tried 3 different fuel regs 3 different oring in the rail fuel keeps going directly in and then directly out, if we clamp the return line it cranks up, we did have to replace the fuel lines i used 3/8 fuel line from the rail down to the bottom quick disconnects on both sending and return lines
would that cause a problem?

it wont start i should add, and im at a complete loss
fuel pump is working great
fuel filter is new

why did you replace those things ie fuel press reg. and so on. does it crank? Do you have fuel press at the rail? we need as many details about your problem as we can get to truly give you our help. tell us the story behind your reasoning to change things.
it all started with my cherokee shutting down on me while driving it was a fuel issue, checked relays 1st then fuel pump, relays seemed good, fuel pump wasnt going so it was replaced with the bocsh high volume pump, bench tested fine installed didnt work, checked voltage it was low, found out it was a bad ground replaced and put on toggle switch, grounded directly to the battery. flipped on, strong fuel pressue but directly pooring out of the return line. replaced fuel pressue reg thinking it was maybe stuck open, did the same thing so replaced again, still same problem about 1 hour ago i went to advance and picked up a in line fuel pressure reg, since when return hose is crimped the jeep would crank, however now its still not cranking i need the jeep for work tomorrow. so its gunna be a all nighter

the problem is the fuel is going directly out of the rail.... therefore it cannot build up fuel pressure no fuse would cause this that i can think ofOriginally Posted by navy digital
check your under hood fuses.

cant do that at the moment and its 11pm here so i cant get oneOriginally Posted by 97AT4x4XJ
Check fuel pressure.

Why the toggle switch? if the asd relay is not turning on, fuel pump won't work, coil and injectors wil not be working....check all fuses....also if crank sensor fails the pcm doesn't have a reference it wont turn fuel, spark etc...

Is this the proper pump for your application? Just asking since you mentioned "high volume". Wondering if it's able to keep pressure at spec. Otherwise, it sure sounds like the regulator, but you seem to have eliminated that as a possibility. Does the regulator have a vacuum line going to it, and is that in good condition/hooked up properly?Originally Posted by iyzak the xj

Also, is the seal on the regulator? My wife had an Intrepid that would bleed off the fuel pressure after shut down, making it hard to start. I found that the regulator was missing it's inner o-ring (it had an outer one, so there was no external fuel leak), allowing fuel to leak around it. Not sure how the regulator is sealed on your engine, but something to check.

sounds like the crank sensor isnt sending info to the computer to tell the pump to do its job. dont hot wire even a ground to your pump. ive seen friends fry their computers doing this. now when you were driving. did you hit a bump? perhaps possibly crushing the wiring or connector for the fuel pump. i have a stock jeep and had that happen and turned out i had a blown fuse after busting the connector between the body and diff because my bumpstops are nonexistant.
well after working all night and rigging a fuel pressure guage, changing some gas soaked plugs, and trying to put a spark plug in backwards lol i was tired and holding a conversation with my buddy, she ran
still need to rerun some stuff and properly set up my new inline regulator however she sounded pretty darn good,
i should have mentioned i ran it threw the toggle switch bc prior to seeing the 6volts to the fuel pump i took off the fuel line at the rail and put it in a 2liter bottle turned the key to see if i was getting gas, it was a hit and a miss so with a toggle switch i know exactly when fuel is being sent.
cps is brand new i have recently replaced all sensors
and yes a high volume fuel pump can be used on any application just need a regulator i have big plans for alice, my xj, so i got it to save alittle money in the long run
