Default Stock 1992 Question (rear view mirror)

This may be an odd question. Are the 84-96 models known for having a shaking rear view mirror? It shakes so bad I can't look at it without getting a headache. Anyone else experience this? Is it perhaps a replacement that was mounted the wrong way? At what year did they reduce engine vibrations?

Thanks,
Al

This isn't a problem for me at all in my 92 XJ, I bet your hinge on the mirror is loose. Is there a bolt/screw to tighten it?

I agree. That or your engine mounts/tranny mounts are shot, which is probably true regardless. Mine were. Fixing them makes a nice difference. I went with aftermarket replacements a couple years ago. Will do Brown Dog this summer.

there is play in it. But there no screw or bolt to tighten the part that has play

I'm with Meyer. Check those mounts. Replacements aren't expensive. You'll need a jack and some basic hand tools.

Yep. It's really no harder than rotating tires or changing the oil. Maybe takes an hour to do the engine mounts. Tranny mount is a little more involved, but not so bad.
