Default TPS Adjustment!

Did you adjust the voltage on the sensor? There are plenty of websites on the TPS installation and adjustments! Try this one, (Renix engine sensor diagnostics)

What I meant, was a check on the smoothness of the voltage transition from .8 to 4.6 volts as the throttle is opened, etc.

well i put it on set it to .835 and started it up and it reved pretty high but then fixed itself. i then took it for a drive around the block and it didnt die and it went back to idle, so i went home and turned it off and started it one last time to make sure and it started up but it went back to how it was acting before i replaced it. and i did check the smoothness of the output and it seemed fine

Try this. Disconnect your battery negative cable for around ten minutes, then reconnect and take the vehicle for a half hour drive. Freeway speeds are good! This may give the ECM a chance to relearn the new sensor. I had to do this recently to my '88 XJ after replacing O2 and IAC sensors. After doing that everything settled down to normal! Good Luck!
