Angry Still grazing the red temp line

After toiling with the Jeep for numerous days I have done nothing. I have replaced the water pump, the thermostat (195), and yes... the radiator. The Jeep doesnt like the 210 range - oh no...its always hugging that last thick white line and sometimes delving right onto the top of the red line. Thanks to the stock fans (electric and on engine.... it drops back out of the red but not far)

Im at wits end. Not sure what to do.

Have you confirmed actual engine temp? Or are you just going off of the gauge reading?

I'd try backflushing the cooling system. a kit to make it easy to do is like $10

MAKE SURE the engine is completely cold, otherwise you risk cracking the head...and that would make for a bad day

what in the hell are you talking about? the breather fittings hoses for the CCV system have absolutely NOTHING to do with engine temps.......

if its not boiling over I would say bad gauge or sending unit.

A manual gauge is easy to plumb in to ck it by and about $12 or harbor freight sells a laser temp gun for $29 and you can read temp off the thermostat housing.

If u r running good coolant, at the proper ratio, with a good 15+ psi rad cap, coolant won't boil until 265F+ degrees.........but that doesn't mean the engine's not running too hot.

thank you all for the replys. If it helps diagnosis, the at idle it still stays close to the hot mark. I never thought about the sending unit (where is it located again?) btw, I did back flush the system when I replaced radiator.

I got this from my overflow tank BEFORE i put new fluid in.

And these pix are of the old coolant

before you ask, YES i checked it for oil - NO oil or clumps of oil just REALLY OLD coolant -_-

Did it ever boil over? If it was actually 250 on the gauge, then you should have heard boiling coolant in the overflow container.

if it keeps acting up you might as well replace it with a hi flow water pump and radiator i know someone who did this with their cherokee and had great results

thats my issue, i put the HD waterpump and radiator in... still no real results...

No the jeep has never boiled over, the OF can gets kinda full but no massive amount of overflow or mess under the Jeep...

infact at certain times it will stay at 210 then... blip... right back to near red

I just want it to stop lol

That coolant really needs a change, I would flush the system. Looks kinda chunky may have a blocked port.
