Replacing your fan clutch isn't exactly going to make your coolant stop disappearing. Did you check your oil to see if there's coolant in it? Or can you see any oil in the coolant? If your radiator was leaking, it'd be very obvious (you'd be finding puddles under your Jeep)

I know the fan clutch has nothing to do with coolant loss, like I said I won't know if I'm still losing any till later today probably. No coolant in oil, no oil in coolant.Originally Posted by 1996sportXJ

Check to see if you oil level has increased and if you have a cracked head you may see your oil as a milky chocolate color. Also another indication of head / gasket is white smoke coming from the exhaust. I have a 93 which had the same issues and I did everything as you have plus I upgraded my radiator. A good flush from a shop may help. Lastly I would unplug your electric fan. Once you do this the electric fan should run continuously, thus telling you the fan sensor is bad (good to know if you start overheating on the trail!). Good luck.

how would un-plugging your fan make it run constant?Originally Posted by jdhak10

Unplugging the coolant temp sensor, not the fan itself, will make it run constant. If you unplug the fan, 12v is gone....Originally Posted by erk2581

Had the same problem. It got so bad it would heat soak while idling.
Literally I replace the Thermostat and housing gasket and it CURED the problem completely.
$9 and it was fixed.

Maybe you could swap in a motor from a 99 and get rid of that 0331 head.

Sounds good. Nothing like a road trip!
You should make a thread about the swap. It seems a lot of people ask about putting an older model engine in the 00-01 xjs.

It makes sense. I don't want to deal with a cracked head ever again hahaOriginally Posted by DieselD
