Still can't find the cause for the code 24 and limp home mode.

Long story short: 92 xj laredo 4.0i6, code shows 12-24-55, so basically TPS over 4.92volts.

Put on a brand new TPS twice now, no change. When I test the middle wire it shows something like .05v at idle and .180v wot. From what I've read it is supposed to be something like 1v at idle and close to 4v at wot. When I unplug the clip to the TPS and test the middle wire it shows about 4.5 volts.

The only effect I see from this code is that the engine will NOT go over 3k rpms. Pedal to the metal and it shifts at 3k every time. Also it seems to die once every morning as my wife starts going after a redlight. Takes forever to get started back up but is then fine for the rest of the day.

Any suggestions?

One thing I forgot, the code and the bad shifting aren't there at the first start up of the day. They come on after about 5-10 minutes of driving and stay on for the rest of the day.

UPDATE: GOT IT FIXED!

Finally I found the problem! The wiring diagram showed that the output wire of the TPS just splices into the output wire from the MAP sensor to the ECU. Testing the wire on the TPS side showed the same low resistances, however on the MAP side and on the ECU side it showed a steady 5 volts. I figured that was crazy seeing as they should all 3 be the same damned wire.

So I dug into the harness and found that the three were connected with a damned FUSIBLE LINK. Yea, buried under all the tape and plastic was an ancient and blown fusible link. Replaced it and BAM, she works like a charm!

I have the same issue. Where exactly in the harness did you find that link?

Found it, that was my issue too. It only took a minute to fix and now she's running like a champ!
