Default steering columns

Im wanting to find out what years of steering colum will work in a 1990 cherokee.. Im wanting to put a 1996 column in a 1990 and dont know if it gunna be more work than its worth

84-94 will work in your rig, a column out of a 96 is different and the wiring is not the same, plus it has an airbag.

Lol if it was just the horn then no big deal, but the whole thing is wore out and im fixing it up for the wife so i want everything working right..

Define "worn out". Are the bolts in the tilt mechanism loose making it flop around? It's not the easiest job to get to them to tighten but it's very doable and much less hassle and money than replacing the whole column.

the bearings are loose and im haveing trouble puting it back together so i figured i would do better to find something with less miles and no issues...

Okay. When you find the replacement I would recommend going in and tightening the four Torx™ bolts at the tilt joint, some thread lock would be nice, too. These bolts are notorious for backing out which makes the steering wheel flop all over the place. Tightening them is a much easier task while you have the column out, I think.
