Default Steering Column Issues

Whilst in the course of removing my ignition switch, the little rod that connects the left switching handle for the blinkers and wipers disconnected from that handle, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it reconnected without tearing the steering wheel column apart. Is that the only way to get it done?

Also, could somebody post a picture with the correct orientation and position of the ignition switch rod when it is inserted into the ignition switch? It fell off of there before I could get a good look at it.

*sigh*

Just read through my FSM. Guess I'll be tearing the steering column apart! Should have just taped the damn rods in place. Stupid mistake, won't be repeated lol

Yup, been following it really closely. I have it all torn apart now. There's this weird plate in behind the bearing that I'm putting some RTV on to reattach it. Got to find some brazing rod to align the bolt holes now, then it will all go together without too much trouble.
