I have a 91 cherokee with a broken steering column, it doesnt bother me too much and its not dangerous, but I have a chance to get a cheap steering column from a 1996, I believe the 96 has a air bag, my 91 doesnt. Does anyone know if I can put the 96 into my 91, if so any advice since it has an airbag (how to disable or remove the air bag) or removal.

I have basic steering column changing knowledge, changed 6 in my 91 s10 that didnt have an airbag.

 

Pretty sure 96 is chrylser. Your others Gm....

 

Looked around online and doesn't sound like a '96 will work. Here's what I've found:

84-94 are interchangeable
95-96 are interchangeable
97-01 are interchangeable

 

Talked to the guy about other parts. It's a grand cherokee...
