I'm getting a new steering box soon, just going with a Jeep one as the durrangos are $80 more with $100 more core charge and I don't want to lose any steering radius.
Is a steering box frame reinforcement plate worth it?
Found this on ebay, seems like not a very complex peice of metal for $57...
Worth it? Better ones?
Eventually I'll get the brace too.

Don't think it will be happening again.

I'd get the outer brace too might as well do both you'll have to pull it the bolts off and get longer ones or make one there pretty easy.

I did the inner and outer C-Rok just because I got it for free. It came with new and extra bolts. Also welded the tow point to it. Seems like a good compliment to a 1-ton steering upgrade.
When previously doing the driveway-alignment I had my son turning the steering wheel and saw the steering box move A LOT. Doesn't move anymore.

mmm ok that doesn't answer if i need new bolts or not. That c rok sure looks tough though.
I'll just add them to the jcr order its only 8 more bucks.

Looks just like the one made. Expect I did if out of 1/4 then again out of 1/8 but was super simple to make I need to add the tow hook brackets to mine now.Originally Posted by McCaffrey

If you are just doing the inside spacer then no you dont need longer bolts but if you do both inside and outside you will need longer bolts. Grade 8 bolts are cheap insuranceOriginally Posted by darknezz

You don't really need to they grab bit more bite is better, also when you do the outer brace you'll have to upgrade bolts. It kinda your choice if not you can prob get them locally tooOriginally Posted by darknezz

has anyone considered welding that JCR spacer to the frame? I bent the **** outta mine
I don't think welding it in place would be a bad thing..

I would do it all the way or not at all. Inner, outer, new bolts, inserts, that extra bolt. Welding might be a good idea too but I had trouble lining up everything on mine.
I've also seen an L-shaped brace that goes behind the front 2 bumper bolts.

I'm not doing the outer brace. I am only doing the inner because I'm replacing my steering box and I believe if your gonna take something all apart might as well upgrade it, to a point(money).
I'll just have them send me the bolts so I don't have to go hunting and can do a smooth install when I grab my new steering box.
thanks ppls!

I wouldn't do the outter brace either. that's where the frame stiffeners belong. Idk if you've seen dukie's write up on the durango swap but he tells you exactly what size bolts you needOriginally Posted by darknezz

7/16"-14, 4" long. however, I just ordered the bolts off JCR as well. just to save a trip to the ACE across town
Kinda dissapointed with jcr. had to drill out the 4th bolt hole a little cause someone did a sloppy job lining up the spacers to the plate when welding.

just sayin, took extra time on an already slightly frustrating project because of autozone renting the wrong tool to my gf and not having parts I needed.
