well just got a new jeep today, and didnt notice it before but i just seen the track bar and drag link angles are off...



by looking at the pics with this setup, any suggestions to get the angles right?

The diff end looks almost perfect. The frame end looks like the track bar wasn't dropped the same as the pitman arm. It's not a huge difference and I'll bet bumpsteer is minimal to none.

well theres a loose in the steering, like slack between the wheels and the steering wheel....i checked when it was parked and had someone wiggle the steering back and forth just where the slack is, and the front end looked like this


not my vid but looks the same, so tie rods are finnished correct? this is where the steering slack seems to be coming from, so is this slack caused by bad tie rods?

The over all angles look ok, not perfect but good enough IMO.

The TRE are supposed to pivot on the ball, the movement you are seeing is normal as the socket moves on the ball. bad play is the ball moving side to side inside the socket. which you will most likely need someone to turn the wheel repeatedly back an forth slowly to see. Like this


If yours only move like they do in the video they should be fine. that roll can cause a "dead" spot while it rolls from one side to the other, which is common with that inverted T steering setup. Some put poly spacers there like these , some counter roll the rods so one is against the knuckle in front, and the other in back limiting the amount of roll you can get out of the rod. I have had both work for me.

I would also check your steering box for play in the sector shaft.

ya no loose play like in the vid you showed, but looking around after you said counter roll tie rods and i found this

do they sell the tie rods specificly for this? or do i gotta fab my own redneck like in the link?


edit: just checked the link you posted, looks like a good cheap fix, i think ill go that route, but like i asked above, do they make tie rods specificly for this? or is the bushing the only fix?

As far as I know, nobody makes a no roll tie rod end. The poly JCR spacer takes up most of the slack.
