steering

yesterday i noticed that when i turn my steering wheel it makes a popping noise, its only on the inside if you go underneath there is no sound. has anybody had this happen to them and if so do you know what it is.

yes my steering wheel clicks when turning either direction. some days its gone others its driving me up the wall. I haven't figured it out yet, im going to take the wheel off soon. If anyone else knows whats going on, input would be much appreciated...

bearings in the column. i see this alot in my line of work. (heavy equipment mech) the operator grabs the steering wheel getting in and out of the cab. destroys the bearings in the top and pivot bushings if its a tilt column. not to mension, imagine how many times that steering wheel has been turned.

If your turn signal was on, it's just the mechanism to cancel it snapping it back to the off position.
