its a 92 xj sport 4.0 5-speed D30 frt 8.25 rr np231 ax-15 w/166.000 on it.ruffly 3 days ago i was on my way home, playing in the snow a bit when i stopped at a red light and it died.I started it back up, it idled down and again it stalled ,i continued for 5 minutes or so ,same each time.I was only a block from home , and pushed her home.I have since put a dist cap and button, ignition coil, throttle position sensor, crank shaft position sensor, and cleaned out the pcv valve.plugs and wires are 2 years old but only have about 6000 mi/100 hours trail time. Like i said it will start right up but stall after it idles down. I can keep the revs up but its weird,I have to poke at the pedal. If i hold the pedal at a steady position it will just cut out and die It gets run hard in the mud and on the trail but is well maintained. any help would be great. THANKS

same happens to me alot. does it idle steady if you slowly let off the gas but if you just let off all together it will die? it hasnt happened to me in awhile but i was leaving my gfs this morning after it sat all night and i went to start her up after i started her car to let them both warm up and it wouldnt idle again. then it takes awhile to start and i have to punch the gas to start it. when it happens, i usually take it for a spin around the block and it will warm up and then idle. it usually happens to me after i do some snow bank smashing and then let it sit. i dont know what to tell ya but i have the same setup drivetrain wise and problem..
same thing happened to me could drive for about 5 mins after sitting a while and would start and die i ending up replacing the same stuff you did and it turned out to be the distributor i would try that

CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTERS>>>> THEN IF STILL HAPPENS CHANGE FUEL PUMP> if fuel filter gets cloged what so eer it will not idle right but will run a little and if fuel pump is cracked broken or going out it will cause these problems. Fuel filter is cheap pump isnt that bad theres my two cents

Sounds like you may have a nasty vacuum leak, somehwere. That would cause idle problems.
When you replaced your fuel pump and fuel filter, did you test or replace your fuel pressure regulator.

Man, Gabe. You have tried everything I would have. This is a tough one. It still sounds like a vacuum leak or fuel issue. You've done all the right troubleshooting. I'll need to think about this one.
I put in a fuel pump one time (brand new), and it puked out a week later. My point is that just because it's new- doesn't necessarily mean that it's good. Put a pump pressure tester on your fuel rail. Bring the gauge inside while your driving.
What about your auto shut-down relay? Have you checked for a good connection? You having to feather the throttle describes a fuel volume problem. What brand of pump was it that you put on?

I LOVE IT!!!! The line speed isn't the quickest out there but, it has never failed me. People can say what they want about the XRC8000 but, I love mine. I use and abuse it while wheeling and then it sits out in the snow and rain between wheeling trips. Everytime I plug in the control and fire it up, it workd like a chance at saving my butt.
I highly recommend it and you can't beat the price.

it looked nice but i just wasnt sure cause it was so cheap in comparison with similar equiped winches. hell if line speed is all i have to worry about then im sold,im sure it beats all the time i have in working a high lift to winch out.
