starting stalling issue not cps
I'm looking at buying a 97 cherokee 4x4 auto 150k miles. He said it was stalling out but would always restart. I was letting it idle and I shut it off and it just Cranked and cranked but wouldn't start. He replaced the fuel pump and cps. It definitely was getting gas. Any thoughts? He was asking 800 but being I couldn't move it he was going to drop. Probably to 500...
I'm not a jeep guy but I do know how to work on cars.

There are more than a few possibilities here, but most of the time this type of problem can be tracked down with a scan tool with freeze frame, where it shows what is missing at the time of the stall.
Offer him $500. That would be a good deal for a 97 with 150k, unless it is full of rust.

It was idling maybe 3 mins and I reved it a few times. Also no way to datalog unless I can use an xcal3 tied to a different car.
Its fairly clean. Hood and roof faded. Average dings for mileage no rust at all except for a random drivers floor hole. Easy patch there. Good tires, destination at with probably 75% on alloys. There's an odd tear in the unibody near the rear shackle, probably improperly towed out of a ditch. It sounded good and strong so I doubt any exhaust issues.

Any more thoughts... Kind of intimidated by electrical issues. I suppose the cps could still be bad. Probably used aftermarket parts.
I'm unsure if I'd fix and clean it then flip it for 2000-2500 or if I'd keep it.
What do these trannys usually run to? My dads old 94 lost its at 100k but we regularly towed 4k lbs... This one needs new fluid its dark but not burnt...
