starting issues
hi all i need some help with my cherokee 4.0 auto, from what i have read online its quit a commen problem but over here in the uk i think most people are quite think when it come to cherokees anyway i put a new battery in mine it ran fine for two days and now the battery will not charge from the alternator, now from what i have read online it could be a number of things and i dont want to spend out on a new alternator if that is not the problem,
is there any quick tests i can do to test it all?

I understand that all jeeps are not the same mine is a 1998, XJ, 4.0 auto as for the trans and transfer case i really cant say i have no idea

A simple hand held voltmeter would be needed.

I have a complicated one and i don't know what setting to put it on to test properly i have never needed to use one before

DC scale.
Touch red lead to positive post on battery and black lead to negative post.
Take reading.
Start Jeep. Repeat the procedure. Take reading.
Report back.
