well i sont know if i can call it an issue yet. but, here is what i am seeing. jump in crank it will fire right up. next time or maybe 3rd time almost run bat dead but it will crank. then goes back to normal. its not really consistant. am i looking at poss intermitting fuel pump failure??

The crank position sensor and cam position sensor can intermittently go out as well, particularly when they get warm.

I have also heard of a fuel pump check valve issue, but i think thats on later models. if that is the issue, you can prime the fuel pump 2 or 3 times (put the key in on for 2 or 3 seconds, but dont crank until the last time), and then it should fire right up

 

X2 on the check valve. Although it starting right up does not fit. You can rule it out like suggested. In my 90 I turn on the ignition two or three times before I no longer hear the pump run when it on. Then it starts on about the count of three.

Sometimes when my old thing gets cranky I disconnect the battery for a few minutes. That makes the computer reboot.

Also I have disconnected and reconnected the CPS wires before.
