Just replaced my engine so I have lots of wires to fiddle with. Does the positive from the battery go to the post on the starter with wires on it and the negative on the bare post? Or vise verse (The little wire is on the only little post)
The starter has 3 posts.
The tiny one is ignition signal. The two larger ones are inbound and outbound from the solenoid. One side is connected to the starter motor, and the other side to the battery positive. Battery negative does not need a connection anywhere - its grounded through the transmission when its bolted on.
So to sum up.. only 2 wires to the starter.

The long negative off the batt should probably be going onto the passenger side of the engine block - near the oil dipstick somewhere. As well it never hurts to run a few connections to different spots.. firewall.. inner fender, fuel rail... never too much grounding!
