Great guide in order to rule out other possible culprits before getting a new starter:

Well first check the fuse just to make sure it didn't blow. It's gonna be in the engine bay, on mine (which is a 2000) it's right behind the battery. Well check that and if that's good take out your starter and bring it to your closest auto parts store and ask them to test it. Let me know what happens from there. It could be other things too so check everything, but if it was going slow before you definitely want to check out the fuse and get the starter checked.

there's a fuse box that should be on the passenger side closer to the firewall. Pop it and look at the cap and it should say what each fuse it. It should be a bigger fuse that is 20A. Let me know if you have any problems.
