Starter Issues
I was having issues with my starter not disengaging quickly when it's cold out and it seemed to draw alot of power while starting. Once everything was warmed up it worked fine. I decided to replace the starter since it was only 59.99. The initial startups were very quick and it didn't seem to draw nearly as much power so I thought the problem was fixed. Now...the past few cold mornings...my starter is doing the same thing again. It's not disengaging quickly. After it warms up...everything is fine though.
Any ideas?

How old is your battery?
But disengaging is not electrically controlled.
Its just a spring inside the solenoid that pulls the bendix back, so unless its just stiff grease I can't say what else it might be.
Did you inspect the teeth on the flywheel when you had the starter off?

if a battery gets low enough on juice it can cause the bendex on starters to stay ingaged after you turn the key off

This morning...i swear that thing held in for at least 3 seconds after it was started.
Should I take it back and get another starter?

They are going to test the started and it will test good but be sure to tell them that it happens when it its cold and they should repalce it.....even if they just mark cutomer satisfaction for the reason.
