OK.
Quick sells the same tool I got from Airgas for this. Except in the video it does not show how the V at the bottom of the tool smashes the bottom of the lug. http://www.quickcable.com/products.php?pageId=536

Clocking. That was the word I was looking for. LOL.
I think the step should be facing in too.
And I am seriously thinking about rerouting that starter cable up to the inner fender, then straight over to the battery instead of the way mine runs, under the oil filter adapter and up over the engine mount.
You talking about the battery cable lug?
If so I used a 90 degree on mine.
In hindsight though should probably have used a 45 degree one.
When I was mocking it up the one thing I did not realize was that I had to get a socket on that nut.
Where the bend of the lug is on the bottom of the nut it is tight and you struggle a bit to get a socket on securely.
But it can be done with my set up.
That grounds through the case and fasteners to the body? (sorry if that is a really stupid question)

There is not a negative cable from the battery to the starter.
But there is that electrical connector to the starter though.
No idea what the wiring in there does. With the exception of probably wired to my ignition switch.
Also that is a starter for an '00.
Best I can tell you would have a different one in your '96.
So have no idea how yours is laid out as far as electrical goes.
