Yesterday I was driving down the road and my jeep just died on me. It's has power but when I turn the key. Nothing happens at all I crossed over the terminals and had a buddy turn it over and all it did was make a winding noise

you probably crossed over the wrong two terminals.
but it sounds like your nss is fooked. with key on and shifter in reverse, check to see if you have reverse lights on.
you can try wiggling the shifter between reverse and neutral and a bit past slowly all while holding the key in the start position. that may trigger your nss and start your jeep.
otherwise, with your key in the run position and jeep in park, you can try jumping the middle and lower terminal on the starter. this should start your jeep.
or you may be right, your starter could be done also.
