I have to say manual. I went through three autos on my dodge 2500 before I finally sold it. It was the first and last auto I will ever own. I have 270000 on my ax15 and it has never had a problem. Just my two cents.

The auto is alot easier to use offroad, naturally. Personally I prefer my manual though, Just gives me alot more control over almost any situation.

I like the MT as well. Won't crap out altogether & leave you in the boonies! You can always nurse a slipping clutch home + when your starter or battery fails you can always push start it!

Street manual Trans, Off-road auto. It's just easier to start up a slippery hill with an auto. Kind hard to use the brake, gas, and clutch pedals at the same time, as my 3rd leg doesn't quite reach the pedals.

Thanks everybody for your replies!! I would have to say that its going to be a tough decision when I go buy another xj after I come back from Basic Training. (I might just have to buy both lol) But thanks everybody
