Stalling while Driving
Alright so my 1995 cherokee likes to stall out while driving. Hot or cold, wet or dry, uphill downhill, IT DOESNT MATTER!!! So anyway, I replaced the coil, no difference, checked for codes but nothing came up. Fuel filter is fine. CPS, Coil, wires, dizzy, cap and rotor, and plugs have all been changed in the past year. Any ideas?

Does it stall when you are on the throttle? Does it stall only when you are coasting or idling? Could be a marginal battery or alternator. Also, could be another bad cps, I have heard a lot of cases where a cps is bought bad and goes out quick.

Theresa chance it's a sensor issue but might as well tackle easy stuff first

Where did you purchase your last crank sensor from? I have had mixed (poor) luck with aftermarket crank sensors and because of that, this is one engine management sensor that I only purchase directly from Jeep.
The #1 cause of stalling due to thermal (heat related) failure on the 4.0 is the crank sensor.

I apologize ahead of time the pc at work is permanent caps lock. It could be idling, on the throttle, off the throttle, cruising. It drops down to about 200-500rpm and sputters like crazy. And it either dies or if i throw it in neutral and mash the petal it starts up. Sometimes if i do that though when i go to drive again it dies.

The CPS should only be purchased from a Jeep Dealer as the aftermarket units seem to fail prematurely. ( according to data from other owners )
I bought one for my 95 XJ from Jeep - it would randomly stall while driving under different conditions.

Oh, and by the way...sometimes it starts right up, others you have to hold the peddle down all the way to start it......If you let is sit for awhile, it surprises the daylights out of you and starts up as if nothing is wrong...but when you take off...it may be good for 25 yrds or so then die...right?........and back to the same problem...correct?....a week of diagnosis, TPS, CPS, CKS, IAC, later...and its the ECU......good luck...bet the capacitors are bad..............

Exactly it. The shop I took it to said it could be the TPS and i got my CPS at Autozone. Their stuff has been pretty good to me so far.
