I replaced it and the jeep runs better for sure and I thought it fixed the problem, but no.
The other day after an hour country drive I got in the city and did some stop n go, I was under 1/4 tank gas, went over some train tracks and it died on me then wouldnt start for like 20 mins.
I check for fuel at the rail and air just came out, when I turned the key I couldnt hear the fuel pump prime like normally. After cranking and checking for fuel several times only to get air it finally got fuel then started. IT HAD A HORRIBLE lifter tick at first for a mile then returned to normal and I drove home fine getting gas later.
So I'm thinking the fuel pump is just shot, I was gonna get this one, its a better bosch pump with a new screen strainer and kit for $72, mine leaks around the seal when full anyway and I'm sure my tanks full of dirt and the pumps old anyway.

the CARTER Part # P74155 but it comes with the Bosch pump.
there is PERFORMANCE ELECTRIC Part # P1032K for $42 and it comes with the strainer and whole kit but id rather pay the 30 more for bosch quality.

i had a problem like this but i would shut it down and then try to turn in back on but i would have to wait for 20min. i noticed that my temp gauge went one tick mark above 210. so i changed my thermostat to a 185 degree this seemed to fix my problem. i live in Wisconsin so in winter i get terrible gas mileage but in summer it ran great. i would also check the radiator cap hope this helps
