squealing electric fan
I've got my electric fan run through a toggle switch and ever since I ran my XJ through some mud a while back it's made a horrible squealing noise whenever it's been on. I've neglected addressing it since it's been cold here and I haven't needed it on, but I went ahead and pulled it out to see if I couldn't clean it out before it starts getting warm out again. I figure it just needs a good cleaning.
I know it can be disassembled but I'll be damned if I can't figure out how to get it apart. Searched quite a bit and couldn't find anything. Suggestions?

OEM as far as I know. I can take pictures if you guys want.
Oh and fwiw I know it's not touching anything or shaking or anything causing the squealing, definitely the fan. Tested it by pulling it a while back and hooking it up directly to a battery.

Yeah there's a bearing in there somewhere that I'm sure is causing the noise. As far as how to take it apart and make it good as new, I'm not too sure. Once you get it out and have it on the floor or a workbench to look at it, I'm sure it'll be pretty straightforward.

There's a metal clip on the fan side, but it doesn't seem to make any difference whether its on or not. I know it comes apart though because you can buy the OEM shroud, motor, and fan separately.

Your fan is on its way out and you might as well get a new one. Happened to me after wheeling a few times and after a whole it slowed down and wouldn't cool engine

I'd post up in the Wanted section for a new one honestly. There are a ton of guys that part out XJs here and I'm sure somebody will sell you one for quite a bit less than that. Thexjfiles is one guy who has parted out many. He may have one

Alright, then let it squeal and in a few weeks when it fails you WILL have to replace it problem solved. You post on here for answers you got one, don't get uptight about it. Sorry I tried to help you around future issues
Like I said, I want to try to fix it. I don't want other suggestions, if you don't know how to take it apart then don't bother posting. Even if it fails I don't need to replace the entire assembly and just the motor is much cheaper than the entire thing and I'd still need to know how to disassemble it. Most of my Jeep parts are used or from the JY, but I don't want them in my cooling system.
